Notification of London Assembly & Committee Meetings

Monday 12 March

London Care Leaving Summit
Venue: Press Conference Room, Romney House, Marsham Street, London, SW1P 3PY
Trevor Phillips (Assembly Chair) is chairing a Rough Sleepers Unit summit on youngsters leaving care in London. Speakers will include The Rt. Hon Hilary Armstrong MP and Glenda Jackson.

6:30-8:30pm
Deaf and hard of hearing Londoners to air their views about life in the capital
Venue: Assembly Hall, Church House, Great Smith Street, London SW1
London Assembly members and Mayoral Advisors will be quizzed by deaf and hard of hearing Londoners at a Question Time event being held in partnership with the Royal National Institute for Deaf People. Chaired by Penny Smith, GMTV. Sign-language interpreters, palantypists and lip-speakers will facilitate the session.

· Presentation by Energy Savings Trust
· Presentation by Darren Johnson GLA on Mayor's Policy Commission on the Environment
· To discuss the Programme of Actions and Witnesses for the Air Quality, Biodiversity, Waste, Noise and Energy Investigations
· Final report on the Health Impact Assessment of the Economic Development Strategy
· Feedback on Health Impact Workshops on the Air Quality and Biodiversity Strategies

Environment Strategies Investigative Committee
Venue: Room AG16, Romney House, Marsham Street, London SW1P 3PY
The Committee will ask questions of the Mayor and his advisors on the Mayor's draft Air Quality and Biodiversity Strategies.

The Committee will hear evidence from the Countryside Agency, English Nature, Groundwork Regional Office London, Judy Hillman and Ken Worlpole.

Nuclear Trains Investigative Committee
Venue: Room AG16, Romney House, Marsham Street, London SW1P 3PY
The following organisations have been invited to give evidence: Greenpeace, Cricklewood Against Nuclear Trains, Nuclear Trains Action Group, Black Environment Network, Kent Against the Radioactive Environment, Friends of the Earth and CND.

St Patrick's Day festival and parade launch
Venue: Press Conference Room, Romney House, Tufton Street, SW1P 3PY
Ken Livingstone, Mayor of London, will announce plans for St Patrick's Day, along with the official launch of a St Patrick's Day souvenir publication and the new GLA shamrock logo, which will be used for the forthcoming festival and parade. Mayor Livingstone will be joined by Edward Barrington, the Irish Ambassador to London, Norah Casey, Chief Executive of Smurfit Media UK, publishers of the weekly Irish in Britain newspaper The Irish Post and John McDonnell MP for Hayes and Harlington.

These meetings are open to the public. Please publish or broadcast details of the events. Media are asked to use the Tufton Street entrance.
