London's diverse population

While the provision of additional housing addresses the central issue of population growth, it needs to contribute to the creation of a safe, secure and sustainable environment. It also needs to be accompanied by the necessary facilities to ensure a good quality of life, together with the social infrastructure necessary to enable communities to operate.

In London, this is made a more challenging task by the size and diversity of London's different communities of neighbourhood, identity and interest, as well as the impact of poverty.
