Hazardous substances policies

The EU Directive on the prevention of major accidents involving hazardous substances requires land use policies to take prevention and minimisation of consequences into account and this is reflected in PPS12.

The Mayor has also had regard to Regulation 6(1)(c)(ii) of the Town and Country Planning (London Spatial Development Strategy) Regulations 2000 in framing policy 4A.34. Where appropriate, advice should be sought from the Health and Safety Executive.
