About Us
The Greater London Authority Act 1999 places responsibility for strategic
planning in London on the Mayor, and requires him to produce a Spatial
Development Strategy for London. This is called the London
Plan. The Mayor is also required to keep it under review.
The London Plan was first published in 2004 and has since been through
an alteration process which has produced this latest version, The London
Plan (consolidated with alterations since 2004).
This website allows access to The London Plan (consolidated with alterations
since 2004), its policies and other key documents related to the plan.
The document can be accessed directly from "The London Plan download
section" found in the centre near the top of each page.
The download section also has links to:
- Maps and Diagrams from the plan - high definition files available for download and use
- SPGs and BPGs - The Mayor produces more
detailed strategic guidance on issues which cannot be addressed in
sufficient detail in the London Plan. These are the Best Practice
Guidance (BPG) and Supplementary Planning Guidance (SPG) documents
The website also acts as a signpost to much of the London Plan team's work and other work related to the London Plan, through the Policy Areas links to be found on the left navigation bar and through the icons on the centre of the homepage.
The Policy Areas links lead to London Plan policies in a hierarchy based on the structure of the London Plan document. Relevant documents can be accessed via the links found on the right navigation bar.
The latest London Plan News and Events are accessed via the homepage.
