Proposals for the Mayor’s Economic Development Strategy

May 2009

The purpose of the Mayor’s Economic Development Strategy (EDS) is to set out the Mayor’s ambitions for the economic development of the capital; provide the GLA group and other strategic organisations with a clear vision and policy directions for achieving those ambitions; and to clarify roles and responsibilities with other parties who make a major contribution to developing London’s economy.

This paper is a consultation document for the London Assembly and GLA group, and is the first step in revising the EDS. It sets out the Mayor’s broad intentions for building London’s economic future.
