  • Domestic violence and substance use: overlapping issues in separate services? September 2005
    The links between substance use and domestic violence are increasingly being noticed by services providing help to people with drug and alcohol problems or to those affected by domestic violence. Questions are being raised about the extent of overlap between substance use and domestic violence, and the ways in which the dual issues of substance use and domestic violence can be addressed through more holistic approaches to intervention.

  • Strengthening our Communities: Community Cohesion in West London March 2004
    This publication, a joint GLA/West London Alliance project, promotes the work of a pathfinder project exploring the strength that the diversity of the West London area brings. It showcases some local projects and provides examples of how to promote community cohesion which could be adopted by other London boroughs. It demonstrates how public bodies can translate the duty under the Race Relations Amendment Act to promote good relations between different racial groups and takes forward the GLA equalities commitments.

  • 1 in 4 : the London Domestic Violence Strategy November 2001
    This strategy sets out a vision for effectively addressing the issue of domestic violence and details the specific steps that will be taken to achieve this. It is the first citywide response to the problem and has been developed in partnership with the Association of London Government, the Metropolitan Police Service and a wide range of other organisations dealing with the issue.

  • Report of the Policy Commission on Crime and Community Safety November 2000
    This commission was part of the Mayor's rolling programme of consultation and policy development. It brought together representatives of a series of key organisations and individuals concerned about crime and community safety in London, and produced a short report setting out its recommendations. Specifically, this report sets out a vision for the Mayor to adopt, a set of key objectives to underpin that vision, and some practical actions to help deliver the vision.
