Policy Officer (Housing)
Housing Unit, Development and Environment Directorate
Do you want to contribute to achieving the Mayor’s vision for housing: a city where the homes and communities we live in bring us together and become a platform for success?
As a Policy Officer in the Housing Unit, you will help to develop the Mayor’s Housing Strategy, put in place plans and partnerships to ensure the delivery of the Mayor’s housing policies, and support the Mayor in directing London’s public housing investment.
Contributing to policy development, you will research a variety of housing issues, and manage research and policy projects. You’ll also draft briefings, presentations and reports on housing issues for the Mayor’s Office, as well as drafting responses to the wide range of correspondence on behalf of the Mayor.
Along with some understanding of issues and policy in relation to housing or another social policy area, you will have an awareness of the role of the GLA and the Mayor. You will also have an ability to communicate, negotiate with and influence a diverse range of people, as well as experience of problem solving, and planning and organising a varied workload in a pressurised environment. In addition, you’ll have some experience of research and analysis and be proficient in using a range of IT software.
We offer an attractive range of benefits including 30 days’ annual leave, interest free season ticket and bicycle loan, final salary pension and incremental salary scheme.
The closing date for applications is noon, 16 February 2010.
